Maine Real Estate Transfer Tax

This is how to find how much a property sold for in Maine.  When a property changes ownership, there is a transfer tax declaration form which is filed with the town and state of Maine. Before now, an interested person would need to go to the town office where the property was sold and ask the clerk to look through notebook binders to find the transfer tax form.  Now you can find these online at the following link:

This is a very handy way to find out how much a property sold for even if the property was NOT listed with a Realtor.  Private sales, auction sales, transfers within families, estates etc can all be found here.  This database of Maine Real Estate Transfer Tax forms is searchable back to 2006.

-this link is provided for convenience only, if you can not find the property you are searching for you will need to contact the appropriate town/state departments!
